Shrimp molts regularly to grow and need calcium, magnesium, and other minerals for new shell formation. Osmoregulation is important for survival, especially in waters with changing salinity. Without enough minerals, shrimp can have molting problems, which can make them vulnerable. This is especially critical in ponds with low mineral content, such as low-salinity or freshwater farms.
